  4. Remove the front cover from the rig.  NOTE: the top will need to be removed
  5. first to permit easy removal of the front.

  7. Move the front of the rig to one side.
  8.  
  9. On looking inside you will see the underside of a PCB.  At the bottom right
  10. of the board, identify an electret condenser microphone. To the left of this
  11. are two wire links.

  13. Cutting links completes the mod as follows:

  33. Extended transmit is obtained by cutting link 2.

  35. After reassembly, reset the CPU via the reset button.

  37. On the bottom right of the front case is a tiny hole.  With a sharp pencil or
  38. pointed object, with the rig switched on, press the point into the hole.
  39. This depresses a tiny button which resets the rig.  All the rig memories
  40. will be reset to 145.000.

  42. You should find the coverage has increased to 130.000 to 174.000MHz.
